China’s Universal Two-child Policy Come into Effect: 50% of new-born baby are the second children in 2017
It’s estimated by American Census Bureau that, world population would rise to be 7,444,443,881 till Jan 1st, 2018, 78,521,283 more than that of 2017. According to the United Nations World Population Prospects in 2017, world population would expand to 8.6 billion in 2030, 9.8 billion in 2050 and 11.2 billion in 2100.
New-borns in China arrive 17.58 million in 2017, half are the second child.
In China, with implementation of the universal two-child policy over two years ago, new-born population keep stable. Based on recent annual report published by National Health Commission of PRC, in 2017, China’s new-born baby reaches 17.58 million, 0.88 million less than 2016, and over 50% are the second child.
Shandong Province has the highest new-born population, 1.75 million, about 10%. New-born population is also over 1 million in Guangdong and He’nan, 1.52 million in Guangdong, increased by 0.22 million yoy, and 1.40 million in He’nan, decreased by 248 thousand yoy. Other top 10 provinces on new-borns are Hebei, Sichuan, Hu’nan, Anhui, Guangxi, Jiangsu and Hubei.
China’s infant mortality rate falls from 7.5‰ to 6.8‰ and maternal mortality rate also goes down from 19.9 per 100 thousand to 19.6 per 100 thousand. The average life expectancy is up from 76.5 in 2016 to 76.7 in 2017. Core health indicators are better than the average level of middle- and high-income countries as a whole.
China’s New Aging Population over 10 million in 2017
The increasing aging population is one of the main reasons for China’s two-child policy. It’s showed by latest statistics data from administration that in 2017 China’s new aging population is already over 10 million for the first time and aging population over 60 rises to 240 million, 17.3% of the total population, estimated to be 255 million in 2020.
Currently there are about 40 million aging people with disability or partial disability, which implies increasing potential rigid demand on health care and rehabilitation nursing services.
