The Retail Sales of Consumer Robots in China is Estimated to Exceed 10 Billion Yuan in 2018
In the past two years, with the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, the development of audio-visual semantic understanding, natural language processing, neural networks and emotion recognition algorithms, consumer robot products have gradually come to the consumes’ sight and created new ways to change lifestyles.
According to GfK’s “Smart Home Entrance Controversy, China Consumer Robot Analysis Report”, more and more consumer groups favor the purchase of electronic products that enrich family life and entertainment, and this group is dominated by younger generations of consumers.
Therefore, it directly leads the leap-forward progress of new species such as smart speakers, smart service robots, drones, and sweeping robots. The report predicts that the retail sales of consumer robots in China will exceed 10 billion yuan by 2018.
Sweeping robot is an entry-level consumer product for smart homes. Because of its clear needs and single mission, the development is relatively mature. In 2017, the retail sales of China’s sweeping robots reached 4.4 billion yuan, the sales of online channels accounted for nearly 90%, becoming the main front for the sales of sweeping robots. The middle class in more developed cities is the main consumer group of sweeping robots.
With the help of AI, the smart speaker controls the smart home and other smart devices through voice interaction, and realizes third-party services such as content search and online shopping, becoming a new entrance for smart home.
In 2017, the scale of China’s smart speaker market has reached a qualitative leap. The retail market has reached 310 million yuan, a yoy increase of 256%. Although the demand for Chinese drones continues to increase in 2018, the increase was lower than before. It is predicted that the national consumer drone retail market will grow by 21% yoy in 2018, and the scale will reach 3.4 billion yuan.
Smart service robots
Smart service robots are equipped with voice interaction, remote video, local service, home control and other functions. With early education and entertainment as a selling point, such robots can quickly enter the consumer market. At present, the Chinese life companion robot industry is in the development stage, and it is expected that the market size will exceed 520 million yuan by 2018.
